„Forgetting, I would even say historical error, is an essential factor in the creation of a nation…“
Ernest Renan

The Icelandic 1000 krona banknote was put into circulation in 1984. It shows a depiction of Lutheran bishop Brynjólfur Sveinsson. A photographic portrait taken of photographer Guðmundur Ingólfsson posing as Sveinsson was used as a foundation since there do not exist many depictions of the bishop.

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream” consists of photographic images by German artist Andreas Hopfgarten he took in Reykjavik. The photographs are a response to a new surrounding, the term Borealism and his interest in data-based fabrications, which could be either memories or photographs itself – both important factors in the construction of history.

There will be photos on the walls, money on the floor and northern lights in the sky.
